Haverhill, MA: Leon J. LaPerriere, Jr., age 78, died Saturday morning January 31, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.
Leon was born in Haverhill, the son of the late Leon and Alberta (Tremblay) LaPerriere. He attended Haverhill Trade School. He enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served his country from 1954 to 1959 on the USS Antietam.
He married his wife Marlene (Demers) LaPerriere in 1959 and worked at Demers Plate Glass for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. He then worked at the Hale Hospital until 1999 in maintenance.
Leon loved spending his summers at his home in Alton Bay where he would kayak, fish and enjoy the beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee. He loved to barbecue and entertain his friends. He was an avid sports fan of all of the Boston teams. Most of all, Leon enjoyed spending time with his family. His family meant everything to him and was his number one priority.
In addition to his wife Marlene of fifty-five years, he is survived by his three children, Lisa Bean and her husband Kevin of Atkinson NH, Lori Magoon and her husband Rick of Haverhill, Michael LaPerriere and his wife Nicole of Newburyport; his six grandchildren, Lindsey Magoon, Ashlynn Boston, Aubrey Bean, Ryan Magoon, Brett and Adam LaPerriere and two great-grandchildren, Aliana and Jordan. He leaves a sister Claire (LaPerriere) King and her husband Robert and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all his friends.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Mr. LaPerriere's funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
