Haverhill, MA: Leo R. Sansoucie, 84, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Wingate at Haverhill.
Born and raised in Haverhill, son of the late Leo E. and Eva (Girard) Sansoucie, he attended local schools and graduated from Haverhill High School and Haverhill Trade School in 1945. He first worked at Western Electric Co. in North Andover and later was employed as a printer at Courier Citizen Co. of Lowell for twenty'six years and retired from Town Printing of Andover.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was later stationed in Korea as a Corporal/Tech 5 and was a recipient of the WWII Victory medal.
Mr. Sansoucie was a member of All Saints Parish, Post 147 of the AmVets and The Friends of the Haverhill Public Library. He was dedicated to his family and his home and enjoyed working around his yard. He also enjoyed biking, walking, traveling, going to the beach and playing cards with his many friends. He was a history enthusiast who enjoyed stories about WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. His greatest joy involved watching his grandchildren competing in their many sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years Theresa A. (Roy) Sansoucie; three sons and daughters-in-law Mark R. and Dianne Sansoucie of Haverhill, Brian L. and Margaret "Peggy"' Sansoucie of Haverhill, Alan W. and Dhyana Sansoucie of Marston's Mills, MA; one daughter Paula D. Kelley of Haverhill; one brother Roland Sansoucie of Haverhill; eight grandchildren Anthony Fiorino, Jr., Jason Sansoucie, Laura Sansoucie, Guy Kelley III, Ashley Kelley, Jillian Sansoucie, Matthew Sansoucie, Lauren Sansoucie; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Girard Sansoucie and his sister Rachelle Faloney.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial service will take place in St. James Cemetery at a later date.
