Hampstead, NH: Laurence Alexander Thorne, age 66, a longtime resident of Hampstead, passed away peacefully at his home following a lengthy illness.
Larry was born on January 3, 1946 in Cambridge, MA, the son of Golbourne and Dorris (Roberts) Thorne. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School Class of 1963. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1964 - 1967. He was honorably discharged.
Larry had worked for several medical instrumentation companies in various sales and management roles. He was currently working for Thermo Fisher Health Care, where earlier this year he was recognized with a lifetime achievement award for record sales in his field.
Larry had been active in the Hampstead Lions Club as well as the Hampstead Civic Club, where he coached basketball for several years. Larry and his wife Rosemary enjoyed travelling the world together. They especially enjoyed their trips to Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Ireland and Bermuda.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Golbourne Thorne. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosemary (Burns) Thorne of Hampstead and daughters Lori Pappas and husband Dennis of Dunstable, MA, Julie Davies and husband John of Andover, MA and Dana Arthur and husband Michael of Tolland, CT. He is also survived by his mother, Dorris Thorne of Plymouth, MA, and siblings Artelle Thorne of Plymouth, MA, Gerald Thorne of Boston, MA, and Starr Noble of Cambridge, MA, along with granddaughters Zoe and Clio Pappas and grandsons Nathan and Brendan Davies, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday September 7, 2012 from 5 - 8:00 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Rt. 121A, Plaistow, NH 03865. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Church, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead, NH 03841.
