Laura Lee Patt Lewinson

Laura Lee Patt Lewinson, (Ne Janowitz), 94, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., passed away January 22, 2015 in Rancho Mirage. She was born in Chicago, Ill. on December 23, 1920, to Isadore (Yisroel) and Margarit (Yetta) Janowitz. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, George Patt and Gerald Lewinson; and by her six siblings, Rose, Helen, Charlotte, Albert, Margaret, and Morris. She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara (Raymond) Beltrano and Nancy (James) Petersen, and many nieces and nephews. Laura was a medical secretary for several physician department-heads at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, Ill. for 23 years and moved to California in 1988. Laura fiercely loved her family and her care and concern knew no bounds. Her most passionate interest was reading; she loved the study of words and writing letters. She also enjoyed Public Television and knitting and crocheting. Leah bas Etta had her Bas Mitzvah at Congregation Beth Shalom in Bermuda Dunes at age 83. She also was loved by the Rabbis and Rebbitzens from Chabad. Rabbi Yankel Kreiman's visits on Eruv Shabbat were the highlights of her week; he was very kind, giving, dedicated and generous to her. Her family especially wishes to thank her caregivers, Emma Romero and Sasha Romo for their loving kindness and constant, unbounded dedication and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bikur Cholim of Palm Springs, Chabad of Palm Springs, Chabad of Rancho Mirage, Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice. Forest Lawn Cathedral City was in charge of arrangements.
