Laura Jean Hastings

Laura Jean Hastings, 63, went home on October 20, 2012. She was born Laura Jean Okada on October 24, 1948 in Los Angeles, California to Carl A. Okada and Faye Stovall. She was a lifetime resident of southern California. She went to Nogales High School in La Puente where she met the love of her life, Steven E. Hastings. Together they raised three children and saw them start families of their own. She spent the last 25 years in Apple Valley and lived in the same house until her passing. She finished raising her children there and witnessed her grandchildren be brought into the world living in the same house. Her home holds so many memories of her life. Besides raising her family, she had a love of crocheting, and gardening.

Mrs. Hastings is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Steven E. Hastings of Apple Valley, California; her son Keith Hastings and his wife Sheila Hastings of Apple Valley, California; her daughter Karen Edens and her husband David Edens of Edwards, California; her daughter Stephanie Boren and her husband Wesley Boren of Victorville, California. Mrs. Hastings is also survived by her sisters Ida Hilo and her husband Jim Hilo of Fontana, California and Brenda Okada of Corning, California. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Her family will be honoring her life and love at her home in Apple Valley, California at a later date. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
