Laura Foy

January 10, 1962 — November 27, 2024

Laura Foy, affectionately known as Zissy, was born on January 10, 1962, in the charming town of Okeechobee, Florida. On November 27, 2024, Laura passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital.  She left a legacy of warmth and joy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Throughout her life, Laura embraced her passion for creativity as she worked as a freelance web developer during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her artistic spirit was a testament to her child-like curiosity and sense of wonder, which filled every project with vibrancy and life.

Laura is fondly remembered for her sense of humor and charm, qualities that made her a beacon of light to many. Her warmth transformed any space into a home, and she had a unique way of brightening the lives of those around her. For those lucky enough to be part of her world, she represented love in its truest form: unconditional. Laura often reminded us to cherish the moments of joy in life with her endearing phrase: "Don't let the clouds of life ruin the sunshine of hope."

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Laura experienced her loving, kind, and compassionate nature. Fiercely loyal to her family and friends, she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and valued. Her eyes, which reflected both happiness and sadness, were windows to her precious soul, revealing the wisdom, patience, and sensitivity that she carried within. Throughout her life, she maintained an unwavering tenacity, especially in her younger years, showcasing the delicate balance between strength and softness that made her both a joy to be around and a powerful presence in every room.

Laura’s interests were eclectic and delightful; she was particularly enamored with elephants and collected figurines and plushies of all shapes and sizes. Her love for Hello Kitty was adorable, perfectly reflecting her playful spirit.

Laura leaves behind her beloved son, Benjamin Finley (his father is Big Ben); her oldest granddaughter, Ve Finley; her youngest granddaughter, Emma Finley; her sister, Patricia Jackson (Frank and nephews Frankie, Brian, and Andrew, grand niece Aubrie); her brother, Bill Foy; and closest friends Glenn Catabas, Ann Catabas,Tara Tammadge, Eddie Catabas, Son Duong, and Nikki Gutierrez who cherished her companionship deeply.  She also left behind her wonderful cousins, Barbara Ward (Charlie, Ash, Hilla), Robin Kaye, Tamara Pflugh, Jenny Smith, and Sheryl Foy Walker. Her aunts are Gail Graham Blacketer, Betty Foy Camplin, and several more. There are numerous loved ones that survived her in the U.S like Tina Bussiere and Sherea Nichols.  The Catabas family loves her and considers Laura to be one of their dearest family members.  Laura had good friends from England: Sophie, Tasha, and the HI staff in Wigan.

Laura Zissy Foy reunites in eternal rest with her father, William Foy, and her mother, Lynn Graham, and grandmother, Muggy, who will surely be holding her in loving arms once more; and departed loved ones: Loretta, Dolly, Tammy, and Cory.  Glenn's mother, Remy Catabas, will be there to welcome her good friend again.

A funeral service to honor this extraordinary woman will be held on December 17, 2024, starting at 11:30 AM at Forest Lawn in Cypress, California. As we gather to celebrate Laura's remarkable life, we will carry her memory in our hearts, nurturing the love and joy she shared with us all.
