January 28, 1961 – January 7, 2018


Larry Park Wong was born in Pasadena, California, one of two sons to Fay Wong and the late George Wong. He was the beloved husband of Beth Zurcher-Wong and loving father of Elizabeth and Philip.

A devoted son, brother, cousin, and uncle, he will be forever remembered by his mother, brother Gary, and loved ones in the Wong family and the Zurcher family.

Larry graduated from Marshall Fundamental School in Pasadena, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree and a California State Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from the University of the Pacific. He began his teaching career at Seven Trees Elementary School in San Jose. His dedication to teaching and his students was evident even then. He was regularly at his classroom from six in the morning until six at night. Larry moved to the Palo Alto Unified School District where he taught at Duveneck Elementary School before moving to, and becoming one of the original teachers at Barron Park Elementary School, where he taught fifth grade for the past twenty years.

He was a beloved and respected teacher. Larry was tireless in engaging and challenging his students to better themselves academically and as people. He will be missed by his friends and colleagues, his students and their parents whose lives he touched.

Larry loved being with his family, traveling, country music, gummi bears, and apple pie. When asked what his ideal job would be if he weren't teaching, he replied, "A stay-at-home Dad."

Fly high, Larry. We will miss you dearly.
