Larry (Papa) Hilario Salas, 76, returned to his heavenly home on January 24, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Larry was born on April 5th, 1942 in Long Beach, CA grew up in the South Bay and moved to LA in 1967. He was a skilled printing machinist for over 50 years, Larry then retired and moved to Cathedral city where he presently resided. He was known as a great man that loved his family and always put others before himself. He set the example when it came to treating others as he would want to be treated. He had a passion for supporting the Los Angeles Lakers and was blessed to see them win 11 championships.
Larry was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend Alice on February 18th, 1967. Larry helped raise his three children with patience, discipline and humility. He often took them camping and on long family trips. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus.
Larry is survived by his wife, Alice; his son Larry (Wife Shelly); his daughters Nicole Navarro (husband Ruben) and Valarie Salas; his grandchildren Marrissa, Elise, Anthony, Desirae, Hannah and Emily; his great grandchild Elijah; and his brother, Robert (Bobby) Salas; his sisters Irene Burlingame and Debbie Tidwell. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Lilian (Weda) Jurich and Helen De La Torre; his parents Hilario and Mary Salas.
We will be having a memorial at Christ Church of Sierra Madre on February 9th at 1pm with a reception at El Cholo at the Pasadena Paseo. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
