Lance Farrell Shoop

October 11, 1989 — March 13, 2016

Lance Farrell Shoop, was the second of identical twins to be born on October 11, 1989, in Glendale, California. He and his twin Trevor Bowen Shoop were born premature, just over 3lbs each. They had a slim chance of living, and if they did the doctors prepared us for a lifetime of medical issues. Trevor and Lance had other plans, not only did they survived, but they thrived. From day one Trevor and Lance were inseperable, yet they bickred in the most hysertical way, friends loved to be around them; they were comedians by default. They had so much love to give, and loved each other and the people around them in a way that is rare, they loved fully and without judgement or constraints. They would do anything for you, and do it happily. Trevor and Lance grew up between their parents houses in Glendale and Lakeview Terrace, attending school at Brainard Elementary, Mt. Gleason Junior High, Delphi Academy, Verdugo High School, and Lance, Graduating from Villiage Christan.

On July 25, 2007, the summer between junior and senior year, Lance was in a car accident which Trevor witnessed from the car following behind. Although non-fatal, the accident looked terrible, Trevor, terrified for his brothers life went into a shock called Takostubo Cardiomyopathy, which is a complex condition that can eventually stop a healthy heart and is initaited by an abnormal amount of stress. He was given a few moments to leap out if the car, rush to Lances side, hug him, and tell him how much he loved him and that he could never live without him, just before collapsing and passing away. Trevor was unable to live with just the thought of losing his best friend and twin brother, yet now Lance found himself alone, and in need to live without Trevor, he experienced a profound loneliness that only a twinless twin could understand. It was too much for him to bear, and in the painful darkenss his brother left him in he found addiction to ease the pain. Eight and a half years of struggling through life without half of his soul, Lance was reunited with Trevor on March 13, 2016.

Sober for six months, and seeminlgy on a path to recovery, Lance was on his way home from taking his girlfriend to a rehab facilty in Palm Springs. She was fighting her own demons, and without wavering, setting his own needs aside, helping her, helping anyone, was for him second nature. We would lecture him, "Lance, you need to focus on you, you can't be helping others, when it is you that needs your full attention." He replied time and time again, that helping people was a deep part of who he is, and he has to stay true to what makes him feel like himself, and what feels right. Alone in the car, late at night, the perfect storm hit. Lance found himself in a car accident that would end his life, and reunite him with his soulmate.

Lance resided in Lakeview Terrace, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Glendale, California.
