Kurt Frederick Miller

May 8, 1966 — July 21, 2015

Kurt F. Miller, or better known as "Salty", was an extraordinary Man, Husband, Father, "Opa", Son, Brother, Nephew, Uncle and Friend. Kurt was a Master Carpenter and skilled Prop Maker.

Kurt was born to George and Shirley Miller on May 8, 1966 in Santa Monica, California. He was the youngest of three children; sister, Karen and brother, Kraig. Kurt was raised in Chatsworth, California by father George and step-mother Irene.

In 1984, Kurt graduated from Bishop Alemany High School. He loved to build and create, which led him to receive an Associate's Degree and become a Journeyman Carpenter. For several years, Kurt operated his own construction company before seizing the opportunity to work in the Motion Picture Industry. Kurt worked as a foreman and prop maker for over nineteen years. He worked on projects such as Seventh Heaven, Secret Lives, Van Helsing, Step Brothers, Rent and most recently Teen Beach 2 and Grey's Anatomy. Kurt loved what the industry provided, the ever changing projects and the amazingly talented people.

Kurt had many accomplishments during his life. The accomplishment that he was most proud of was his family and the life he had created with them. Kurt married Jewele Childs in 1989 and was blessed with four beautiful children; a daughter, Spencer Margaret, three sons; Edge, Nicholas and Hudson, and one "Sweet Patootie", granddaughter, Kennedy. The second greatest accomplishment of Kurt's life was the designing and building of his family home. It was a labor of love for his precious family.

Kurt enjoyed dirt bike riding in the desert with his friends and family, watching and playing hockey and any activity that include a heightened level of thrill or excitement. He was a staple at the Ice Rink, where he watched all four of his children play hockey. Kurt took great pride in being a kind and respectful man. He always treated everyone with great care, which was evident in the way he raised his children. Kurt entered Eternal Life on July 21, 2015. Kurt will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Jewele; three sons, Edge, Nick and Hudson; daughter, Spencer (Ashton Kolander) Miller; granddaughter, Kennedy Kolander; his father and stepmother, George and Irene Miller; brother, Kraig (Trish Walker-Hill) Miller; sister, Karen Miller; aunt, Janet Miller; mother in law, Sharon Childs; brother in law, Gregg Childs; many nieces and nephews; and several relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Mae Miller and father in law, Rocky Childs.
