Kenton Meade Whitesel

July 27, 1927 — March 14, 2013

Kenton Meade Whitesel was born on July 27, 1927 and passed away on March 14, 2013. He lived a long, full life during his 85 years.

Kenton was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served in the Navy during WWII as a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. Following his military service he graduated from the University of Minnesota.

Kenton was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Susan. They left Minneapolis for California on their honeymoon and never moved back. He spent most of his adult life in Burbank.

Kenton was an excellent and involved father, coaching his children's teams and attending all of their events. Together he and Susan raised three children, Kent, Kathryn, and John. He is loved by his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kenton had a long and very successful career as the President and CEO of an insurance company. He played golf every week for over 60 years. He also loved classical music, the Lakers, and all things western, including John Wayne movies and Louis L'Amour novels. Kenton and Susan not only travelled extensively in the U.S., but also abroad.

Kenton was respected and loved by all. He touched those he met and will be truly missed. A private, family funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. A celebration of his life will follow at a favorite family restaurant.
