Kenneth Ray Toby

Kenneth Ray Toby, 80, was born on a farm in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on October 25, 1931. He was the last of 11 surviving children born to Francis & Mary Toby. He learned early, the value of hard work & dedication which served him well in his service to our country during the Korean War. He was 3 times awarded the Bronze Service Star among other commendations. After his service with the Army was completed in 1953, he met & married the love of his life, Dixie Lee Ellis. He and Dixie were married on March 19, 1954. In the mid 1950's he began work as a finish carpenter and "Toby," as he was known in the trade, became much sought out by developers in Orange County and beyond, for his excellent craftmanship. He and Dixie moved their growing family to their home on Oak Street in Fullerton in 1961, where he resided for 45 years. Their home was always full of family, friends, animals, love and fun. He loved babies, animals & gardening, a love he has passed down to his children and grandchildren. His heart was broken & a bit of his bright light was dimmed when his beloved Dixie passed in 1992. Kenny passed away October 13, 2012 after a long illness and is survived by his Brother Richard Toby of Texas, his Son Steven Birchfield of Norway, his Daughters Dayna Arbiso and Lisa Martelli of Yorba Linda & his Son Patrick Toby of Grass Valley, 16 Grandchildren & 6 Great Grandchildren who all will miss him but will cherish & pass on his rich legacy. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
