Kathryn E. "Kay" (Bowman) Murphy, 75, a longtime resident of Wash Pond Road in Hampstead from 1978 to 2015 and a former resident of Brockton, MA for several years, died on January 16, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill following a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, daughter of the late Francis and Mary (McCormick) Bowman, she attended St. Vincent Grammar and High School and graduated with the Class of 1958.
Kay was employed as Office Manager and Administrator for Pastor Services at St. Anne Parish in Hampstead for thirty-five years.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Kay was an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and Notre Dame Football fan and had an impressive ability to remember everything. She was a member of St. Anne Parish and enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, and shopping.
She is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, David J. Murphy, a daughter and son-in-law Megan and Patrick McAniff of Epping, NH, three sons and daughters-in-law, David J. II and Daniela Murphy, Sean P. and Mary Kate Murphy, and Matthew P. and Andrea Murphy, all of Hampstead, two brothers, Frank Bowman of Hockessin, Delaware, and Michael Bowman of Baltimore, Maryland, three sisters, Marianne Krupka of Syracuse, NY, Patricia Russo of Syracuse, NY, and Theresa Smith of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, seven grandchildren, Mackenzie, Abigail, Maelie, Malaney, Izzy, Michael, and Tess, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sheila Murphy, five brothers, John, Thomas, Richard, Bob, and Joseph Bowman, and a sister, Margaret Hurder.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kay's Life Celebration on Thursday, January 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anne Church, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. Burial will take place in the spring in West Hampstead Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow the Mass in the Church Hall.
