Kathleen Ann Boyle

Kathie passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23 at Kaiser Hospital in Woodland Hills, California. She resided in Studio City , California at the time of her passing. She was born in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, on May 1, 1950 to Joseph and Lorraine Meylor Boyle. She lived in Cuba City, Beloit and Brodhead where she graduated from Brodhead High School in 1968. She then attended St. Norbert College in De Pere before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1972. She then moved to Baltimore, Maryland to train at the US Public Health Service Hospital to become a medical records administrator and earned her Registered Records Administrator Certification. That is where she met Richard Yaffe and fell in love. They were married December 7, 1975.

Kathie was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She was a gentle soul who excelled in school. In Sixth Grade she won the Spelling Bee in her school in Brodhead and competed in the state event in Madison. She would often be found reading a book in her room avoiding chores to the best of her ability. She was a favorite babysitter for teachers at the high school. She played the clarinet and marched in the high school band. She did the crossword puzzle in ink every day.

She worked as a medical records administrator for over thirty years. In her jobs she supervised many employees and took great interest in their development and growth. Kathie retired from Kaiser Hospital in 2005. Kathie was active in her professional association and served as VP and then President of the Maryland Medical Record Association.

In 1985, she and Richard moved to Los Angeles for his career and to be closer to Richard's family She and Richard enjoyed a close circle of friends from their high school and college years who are now living throughout the country. They enjoyed visiting them and hosting them at their house. They also enjoyed spending time with their newer West Coast friends. Spending time with family was most special for both of them and they were very close to both of their families. Thanksgiving was celebrated at their house for family and friends for many years. They shared a love of live theater, music and art and attended many plays and concerts and visited museums often. In recent years, they traveled extensively around the country and the world.

Kathie is survived by her husband of 42 years Richard Yaffe, her brother Nick Boyle (Penni Secore), sisters Joanne Lee, Mary Boyle, Tess (Dick) Keller, and Patty Boyle (Garland Gibson), sister-in-law Barbara Feinberg, Step-mother Betty Boyle, aunts Pat Rolli, Marion Meylor and Sharon Meylor and an uncle Jim Meylor; nephews Paul (Patty) Feinberg, Jeff Feinberg, Justin Lee (Aileen O'Hearn), and Joey McLaurin nieces Aimee Scalzo, Dr. Emily McLaurin (Gabriel Volpicelli), , and Lucy McLaurin; great nephews Miles and Hunter Feinberg. Honorary grandchildren are Sophia, Reilly, Avery, and Mila Hay.

Kathie's funeral service will be held on:
Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10 am
To be followed by a lunch reception at the church where we will be able to share our memories and love for Kathie.
