Kathleen Ayers

Kathleen Ayers, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 11, 2025, at her home in Valinda, California. Born on August 14, 1946, in South Gate, California, she was the beloved daughter of Irish heritage, which she cherished and celebrated throughout her life. Kathy graduated from La Puente High School in 1964, showcasing a bright start that would be complemented by a life filled with love, family, and dedication. This is where she met the best friend of her sister’s fiancé, Arthur Dean Ayers, where their paths merged together in marriage in 1969.  

For a significant part of her career, Kathy worked at Leeway Trucking Company in the claims department, demonstrating her commitment to her profession. Nonetheless, when her daughter Stacy was born, she embraced the transformative role of a full-time mom. In addition to nurturing her family's needs, Kathy supported her husband in their family business, Ayers Electric, managing vital paperwork and billing with characteristic warmth and efficiency.

Kathy's spirit illuminated the lives of those around her. She possessed a smile that could brighten any room and an infectious laugh that brought joy to gatherings. Throughout her life, she prioritized the needs of others, making it her mission to ensure everyone felt special during holidays and birthdays. Her daughter Stacy fondly remembers the cherished moments of “butterfly kisses” exchanged before bedtime as a young child—a testament to the deep bond they shared into her adult life. 

A passionate individual, Kathy loved to travel and immerse herself in new experiences, often decorating her home with thoughtful touches that reflected her artistic flair. She enjoyed attending Dodger games and ensured she was present at all the events celebrating her grandchildren, embracing all facets of family life. Additionally, Kathy had a love for books and sudoku puzzles, providing her quiet moments of reflection. She found joy in the theater, particularly Broadway hits, and held a special admiration for the legendary Barbara Streisand.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Dean Ayers, her cherished daughter, Stacy Ayers, her sisters Susie Shouse and Maureen Nelson. She is preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Debbie, who passed away on the same date one year prior.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Kathy's life at her funeral service, which will take place on March 11, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills, Memory Chapel, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA 91724.

Kathy's legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, as they reflect upon the warmth, laughter, and unwavering love she so freely gave throughout her life.
