Kathleen Susan Anke

November 8, 1943 — August 20, 2019

Kathleen Susan Anke, daughter, sister, wife and loving mother, passed away after a six-month battle with cancer, on Tuesday August 20th 2019 at the age of 75. Kathy was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on November 8, 1943 to Leo and Helen Carney. She moved to California to become an elementary school teacher and met Robert Harry Anke. They were married 53 years and raised four children: Leila June, Kristine Carol, Robert Thomas, and Patrick Michael.

Kathy taught for many years, and retired as a school principal to enjoy travelling, quilting, book clubs, Bible study, and playing the eternal hostess. She loved to bring people together, to talk, and to laugh. The twinkle in her eye, her sense of humor, and the immense space in her heart she shared with her loved ones will be missed.

She is survived by her husband Robert, her children, Leila, Kristine, Robert, and Patrick, her grandchildren Layla, Robby, Christian and Isaac, her sisters Patricia Carney Myer and Margaret Carney Collette and several beloved nieces and nephews.

One of the many things Kathleen was passionate about was giving children every opportunity for a successful life. This includes providing services for those kids in need, literacy, and guiding them towards a promising future. We feel it would be appropriate that in lieu of any flowers or gifts a donation be made in her honor / memory to one of the following non-for-profit organizations:

To benefit underprivileged children and their families in the district - Rowland USD Friends of the Family Resource Center - 17800 Renault Street, La Puente, CA 91744
To aid RUSD Teachers to better serve their students - For Us Foundation https://www.rowlandschools.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=30141&type=d&pREC_ID=690028
