Julio Luna

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Julio Rodriguez Luna, who passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the age of 82.

Julio was born on June 20, 1943, in Jalisco, Mexico. He was the embodiment of hard work and dedication, devoting over 30 years of his life to his craft as a gardener. His journey began at a local nursery and grew into a lifelong commitment to his trade. A true master of his work, Julio’s pride in his labor was only surpassed by his love for his family.

He was married for over 50 years and was a devoted father to Blanca, Marisela, Pedro, Julio, Armando, Gloria, and Claudia. He was also a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two.

A passionate sports fan, Julio loved baseball, basketball, and football—but his greatest passion was for soccer. A lifelong supporter of Chivas de Guadalajara, he played in the city league in his hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco, and later coached in the Palm Springs City adult league for many years. Even in his final days, he remained enthusiastic about the game, watching tournaments like the FIFA Club World Cup with unwavering excitement.

Julio’s legacy is one of integrity, strength, and sacrifice. As a young man, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better future for his family. Though he had little formal education, he worked tirelessly to provide his children with the opportunities he had once dreamed of. His perseverance paved the way for them to thrive.

Julio will be remembered not only for his unwavering work ethic but for the warmth, kindness, and humility he brought into the lives of all who knew him.
