Our hearts are broken as we share the passing of our beautiful mom, Juliet Liwag Gasmen, who went home to our Lord on September, 23, 2025. She was 81, born on July 11, 1944, in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA.
Mom’s life was centered around faith and family. She lived each day with grace, patience, and compassion for others. Her gentle words, warm hugs, and quiet strength made everyone feel safe and loved. No matter what life brought, Mom’s faith never wavered. She prayed for us, believed in us, and reminded us always to trust in God. She was the heart of our family — a woman whose love, kindness, and faith touched everyone she met.
Throughout her life, Mom faced many health challenges with remarkable courage and faith. Even in her most difficult times, she never complained. Her strength, perseverance, and deep trust in God were an inspiration to all who knew her. She faced every trial with dignity and grace.
She leaves behind her devoted children: son Carlos Jose Gasmen, III and his wife Yolanda; daughter Carla May Montalbano and her husband Matthew; and daughter Caroline Duncan and her husband Christopher. She was the proud and loving "Owah" (Lola) of Sean Gabriel and his wife Hannah, and granddaughters Cameron Grace, Madison Rae, and Tristan Hope. Her joy grew even greater with the arrival of her great-grandson, Haru Rae Carlos.
Her passing leaves an ache that words cannot describe, especially to her remaining brothers and sisters: Jose, Jr., Luzviminda, Teresita, & Wilfredo. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Jose B. & Primitiva I. Liwag, and her siblings: Felicisima, Amelia, Sergio, & Catalino. To her extended family, she can easily be described as the "favorite cousin" and "favorite aunt." To her friends she was a caring, benevolent supporter. She was fearless in her charitable works and always led with compassion. We find comfort in knowing she’s now at peace in Heaven, reunited with her forever Sweetheart, Dad, along with loved ones and that she is wrapped in God’s eternal embrace.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 14, at 10 a.m at Holy Family Catholic Community Church in Glendale, followed by burial at Forest Lawn, Glendale. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring the incredible woman she was — a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose faith and love will forever remain in our hearts.
