Julie Ann Williamson was born on May 7, 1958 to Billy and Frances Knight of Compton, CA. She grew up in the shadow of Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park attending elementary, middle, and high schools. Growing up, she spent her days with friends at Peak Park, which was across the street from her house, playing or swimming. We often joked how we may have been there at the same time. But, being 6 years younger than her, I'm sure she wouldn't have given me a second look.
In high school, Julie was part of the drill team and worked in the bi-centennial parade at Disneyland. She always talked about the hard work but also the great time she had working the crowd during the parade and meeting other cast members and still keeps in touch with a few of them.
On June 18, 1977, she married Harold Walls and became a mother on August 2, 1982 with the birth of her son, Kevin. Julie and Harold were divorced in 1985 after nearly 8 years of marriage.
Julie and I were married March 4, 1995 and her little family of 2 instantly became a family of 6 with the addition of her step-children Tanya, Craig and Thomas. Shortly thereafter, on May 10, 1995, we welcomed our daughter, Stacie, completing their family.
In her professional career, Julie worked in banking for nearly 30 years. She worked for 2 different banks that went through a total of 3 different name changes.
Known as Julie to most, mom to a couple, grandma to 8, and Jules to two, Julie thrived best when surrounded by family. From family road trips to places like the Grand Canyon and Monterey when the kids were younger, days spent at Disneyland, and summer nights spent at the ballpark, being with her family was her favorite pastime. She had a love for travel and exploring new places.
As her children grew older, Julie entered a new phase of life, and probably her favorite phase, grand-motherhood. She had 8 grandchildren whom she loved to the moon and back, Kevin’s children Danika, Dominic, and Parker - Janel's son, Stacie’s children Carter, Wyatt and Hudson, and Tanya’s children Oliver and Archer. And she was so excited for the news of another granddaughter, Charlie, Craig’s daughter due in October with his girlfriend Brittney.
When asked to describe Julie, those who knew her best would say kind, welcoming, nurturing, giving, selfless, among many others. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and always made sure they knew it. Being retired, Julie had an opportunity to babysit for most of the grandkids and developed a special bond with each and was able to watch them grow and learn.
Julie passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from complications due to liver disease. We worked with doctors for nearly 2 years to be placed on the transplant list. Unfortunately, it just wasn't meant to be.
Julie was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, Jill, and her brother, Mike. She is survived by her husband, her children Kevin and Stacie, her step-children Tanya, Craig, and Thomas, 9 grandchildren, 2 nieces, and a nephew.
