Glendale, Ca

Julia Rothermel, (Gidos) passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Glendale, California, at the age of 98. Born on February 22, 1928, in Fords, New Jersey. Julia lived a life marked by warmth, passion, and an enduring love for family and the simple joys that enriched her days.

Julia was a woman whose hands were always busy with the gentle rhythm of crochet, crafting and creating with a patience and grace that reflected her spirit. She also had an adventurous heart and loved to travel, embracing the beauty and diversity of the world with enthusiasm and curiosity. These passions were not just hobbies but windows into the essence of who she was – loving, creative, and ever eager to explore life’s wonders.

Her legacy is carried on by those who were closest to her heart. Julia is survived by her daughter, Karen. Also treasured are her granddaughters, Rochelle and Tara, who remember their grandmother’s nurturing touch and the stories woven through her crochet threads. The joy Julia found in witnessing new generations flourish remains alive in her great-grandchildren: Krystyna, Nicole, Michael, Anna, Jennifer, and Zoe. And extending her beautiful lineage even further, Miah, her great-great-granddaughter. As well as a multitude of nieces and nephews

Julia was preceded in death by dear family members whose memories she held close: her beloved husband Donald, whose partnership shaped many years; her son Kenny, whose spirit she cherished always; her brothers Joe and Paul, along with her sisters Helen, Betty, Anna, and Doris, siblings with whom she shared early life’s journey; and Tommy, her son-in-law, a part of the family tapestry she so deeply valued.

The family will gather to honor Julia’s remarkable life and bid their farewells at a funeral service held on May 8, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn - Glendale - Wee Kirk o' the Heather, located at 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205. Julia Rothermel's life was a testament to the beauty found in everyday moments – the care in her stitches, the memories crafted with family, and the journeys taken both near and far. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a quiet strength that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of her family’s hearts.
