Juana Munoz Gradilla

January 27, 1944 — February 19, 2022

Juana Munoz Gradilla was born on January 27, 1944, in a small ranch "Rancho Los Sandovales" in Zacatecas, Mexico. She was the second oldest of six children of Heliodoro Munoz and Natividad Ramirez. As a child, she didn't like playing with dolls. She preferred to play outdoors in the fields with the animals and climbing trees. After her father passed away in 1956, she moved to the small town of Nochistlan. She stopped going to school and began working at an early age to help support the family. She would escape with her cousin Rosa, looking for adventures and sometimes trouble would find her. She moved to Tijuana in 1962 to work. At the age of twenty, in 1964, she moved to Palm Springs, California. She began working in anything she could find. At first, taking care of children, then cleaning homes and as a cook at restaurants and hotels. Most of her life she worked two jobs at a time. She would work one job, go home, cook for her family, and then head out to her second job. She was known for her strong work ethics and dependability. She started her family in 1965 when she gave birth to Olga, followed by Jaime in 1969, then Javier in 1973. In 1972, she bought a house in Cathedral City that was her "forever home." She met Casimiro at a pool gathering in 1976 and they were married shortly after. She gave birth to 3 more children, Lizandro in 1977, Arturo in 1978, and Alberto in 1980. She led a firm household and encouraged all her children to go to school and stay out of trouble. She enjoyed outings on weekends, traveling to her adored town of Nochistlan, and attending family gatherings. She was known to her loved ones as headstrong, easy going, kind, and a leader. She was friendly with everyone she met, and it was easy to love her. She is survived by her husband,6 children and their spouses, 20 grandkids, 4 great grandchildren (two more on the way), 3 sisters, many nieces, nephews, and innumerable loved ones.
Juana passed away February 19, 2022, at the age of 78. She rests in eternal peace with the Lord.
