Juan Cosico

Juan (John) Cosico, 94, born May 6, 1928, in San Pablo, Philippines, passed away on Wednesday, April 05, 2023.  He resided in Cerritos, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA. See below for dates and times of service.

John Cosico was a loving, hard-working, dedicated and brilliant man. He and his wife Rosalina Gonzaga (married for 58 years and now deceased) built a legacy for the family where faith, love and commitment were the core values of the Cosico family. John taught his children to be survivors, self-sufficient, determined and educated. He grew up with his parents, Arcadio and Felicidad, four brothers and three sisters. He attended National University in Manila, Philippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

John started his engineering career as a supervisor with General Foods Company. In 1969, he left his company to pursue a career in the United States. The sacrifice was to leave his wife and six children until he could petition for them to move to the USA. In 1971, nearly two years later, Rosalina and the children were finally able to reunite with their father. They settled into a charming home in Buena Park, CA.

John started from nothing and ended up being a dedicated husband, father of six and a successful Mechanical Engineer spanning decades of innovation, invention, and experimentation. His work can be found at General Foods Corp, AG Bayer (Pharmaceuticals), BART (Rapid Transit in San Francisco), Stang Industries (Engineering firm), Bechtel Corp (Nuclear), Rockwell – Rocketdyne division (Rockets and Rocket Engines), and finally, BP Oil (British Petroleum) where he retired in 1990. After retirement, he spent the remaining years of his life playing golf and enjoying time with his family and friends. Although John’s career achievements were many, his greatest accomplishments were the 58 years of marriage to his beloved wife and raising his children in the country he has called home for 54 years.

John's wife, Rosalina Gonzaga Cosico, is preceded in death and passed away on October 29, 2019. He is survived by his children – Carl Cosico (Edythe), Mel Cosico, Shirlene Moore (Richard), Jeannette Box (Henry), Glenna Casas (Tony) and Walter Cosico (Marie Fe). His grandchildren are Corinna, Brianna, John, Brandon, Katherine and Chase.

John will be laid to rest next to his soulmate and love of his life ~ Rosalina Gonzaga Cosico.

Visitation of John (Thurs 5/11/23)  - Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA - 2:00pm to 8:00pm PST; Prayer begins at 5:30pm followed by program and memorial of John Cosico (6:00pm to 7:30pm PST) - zoom link will be provided

Funeral Details (Fri 5/12/23) - St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church - 10:00am to 11:00am PST; Followed by Gravesite Services at Forest Lawn - Cypress, CA; Lunch after burial - Four Seasons Restaurant - Cerritos, CA
