Joyce S. Hays

Joyce S. Hays, a longtime resident of the Lakes Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif., passed away in her home on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. She was born on November 3, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois and was a real estate agent in northern California for several years. Joyce's true love, later in life, was her devotion and contributions to the local theatre and arts community. She spent over a decade performing and being very involved with the Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs. Joyce was a loving daughter to Frank Kerr Hays and Buelah Estell (Stevens) Hays, a beloved sister to Frank Steve Hays, devoted aunt to nephews, Frank Steve Hays Jr. of Reno, Nev. and Thomas Edward Hays (Nadja) of Covington, La. Joyce was a dynamic woman who was truly loved and respected by those who knew her. She will be dearly missed. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Palm Canyon Theatre. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, CA.
