Jovenal Ramos Mendoza

Jovenal Ramos Mendoza, Sr., 85, born on August 17, 1932, in Manila, Philippines, passed away on December 31, 2017 at his residence in Anaheim, California. "Joven," as he was known to many, was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who instilled in his family a strong faith in God.

It is this faith that kept his family together, while he made the sacrifice to immigrate to the United States to provide a better future for his family. After seven years apart, he reunited his family through hard work, perseverance, and most importantly, his unwavering faith in God. Many of his happiest moments were when he was surrounded by his family, relatives, and friends during celebrations or his favorite pastimes, such as fishing or playing card games. Joven's caring and loving nature not only for his children but also for his nephews, nieces, and their own children led them to see and call him as also their "Tatay."

He will be missed by many, but will continue to live through the hearts of those who love him. Joven is survived by his daughter Marissa; his son Jessie and daughter-in-law Verlyn; his son Banjo; his five grandchildren Amber, John, Michelle, JB, and JR; and his great grand-daughter Dominique. Viewing (Thursday, January 18 from 3 pm to 9 pm and Friday, January 19 from 5 pm to 9 pm with the vigil beginning at 5 pm) and services (Saturday, January 20 at 9 am at the Church of Our Fathers) are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
