Joshua Ethan Jung

April 25, 2010 — February 25, 2023

Cypress

Joshua Ethan Jung, 12, named "Boo Boo" by his mom as a term of endearment, was born on April 25, 2010, in Newport Beach, California, United States.  Joshua was a resident of Cypress, California.  Joshua and his dad, Rod Jung, Jr. were taken from us too soon. They were the victims of a DUI driver collision that ended their lives fatally on February 25th, 2023, only one mile from their home.

Joshua was an amazing, charismatic, and intelligent young boy, who was just at the beginning of developing into a young teen/man. Joshua was already going through his voice change; he also sprouted up 3-4 inches in height and his feet already grew to 11.5 men's size this past year. His favorite pastime was meeting and playing video games online with his best school friend, Max and other online gamers in California and across the U.S. including his dad. Joshua very much loved to spend special time with his mom: they studied together daily and celebrated every accomplishment.

In addition, Joshua loved to defeat his mom in board games as well as use his keen strategies to conquer her in every game of chess, and watch movies at home together. When Joshua took breaks from studying, he also enjoyed playtime with his dad to include: playing catch, shooting hoops on the driveway, and driving go-karts. Joshua was known for his talent to dance, do memes and voice imitations on the spot.   His family felt that his talent would have been in drama and maybe even a future actor.  Like both of his parents, Joshua had so many talents.  If you have a moment to view his videos, you will see his ability to talk in front of the camera yourself.  Some of the links are below this write up of his personal history.

Joshua graduated from Margaret Landell Elementary School in Cypress and was currently a student at Lexington Junior High School. He was active with the Boston Red Sox baseball and is a former Cyclones basketball player.  Joshua would have turned 13 on April 25th, and he would have attended Cypress High School in the fall of next year.  Because of his love for water and swimming, our family is sure he would have been a swimmer and water polo Centurion star athlete.  He was a pretty big fan of the Golden State Warriors.  Joshua's mother, aunts and grandparents are all very sad that they will never get to experience this or see him go to his Prom, graduate from high school, graduate from college or get married.  This is the biggest wound in the hearts of Joshua's entire family, especially his mother.

Joshua leaves behind his adoring mom, his grandparents on both sides of the family, two aunts, an uncle and three cousins. Joshua loved dearly his mom, grandparents, aunts, uncle and cousins.  The entire family, especially his mother, are extremely and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of his and his dad's lives.

Joshua's memorial service was held in the Patriots Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on April 2, 2023.  He is resting at Forest Lawn's Eternal Peace  4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, California.
