Josephine Smaldino Puccio

Josephine Smaldino Puccio, 94 left this earth on Aug 29th 2015 to join her mother, Marietta and daughter, Patricia.

Born Sept 17th 1920 on Solano Ave, in Los Angeles, just a few houses away from where her parents, in 1924 would build the house which was her residence until her death.

She attended the original Solano Avenue Elementary school which years later was to be torn down to make way for the Pasadena fwy. She then attended Central Junior High-school followed by Lincoln High School in 1935.

Josephine enjoyed cooking, dancing, spending time at muscle beach with her husband Laurence, daughter Patty, her Siblings and their children. She enjoyed playing cards, attending church services and community gatherings at St Peters Italian church. She loved animals and would bet on a race horse if it was pleasing to her eye. She was the cat pied piper of Solano, she kept cats, dogs and rescued any furry animal that needed a home. She was a huge Dodger fan. She would attend Solano night at Dodger stadium with her grandchildren. She once said, she would like to be buried at Dodger stadium.

She was fun loving and unpredictable, she enjoyed shopping downtown and watching movies with her friend Mary, she loved John Wayne and westerns. Her later years were spent mostly at home with her family and dog Mousy. Although she was old and tired she never lost her spunk. She was one of a kind and loved by everyone who knew her.

We will miss you Nana, rest in peace.
