JOSEPHINE GULLO, A LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHER, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY ON FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2012 AT ST. ROSE HOSPITAL IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. SHE WAS BORN ON SEPTEMBER 14, 1922 IN CHICAGO,ILLINOIS TO GUISEPPE & ROSALIA PIAZZA. IN 1939, SHE MARRIED HER HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART, ANTHONY GULLO IN CHICAGO. GOD BLESSED THEM WITH 3 BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN, NICK, DIANE AND STEPHEN. JOSEPHINE AND TONY MOVED FROM CHICAGO, ILLINOIS TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN 1952. LATER THEY MOVED TO MADERA, CALIFORNIA WHERE THEY LIVED FOR OVER 15 YEARS. IN 2009 JOSEPHINE MOVED TO BE WITH HER DAUGHTER AND HER FAMILY IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.
SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ANTHONY HER HUSBAND OF 66 YEARS, AND BY HER YOUNGEST SON, STEPHEN. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER CHILDREN, DIANE GULLO NORTH AND HER HUSBAND, MICHAEL NORTH; NICK GULLO AND HIS WIFE, MARY GULLO OF MADERA, CALIFORNIA; FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: CHRISTOPHER NORTH, TAMMY SAAD, LISA LONG, STEFFANIE GRIFFITH, & ANTHONY GULLO; AND ELEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS HERE IN CALIFORNIA AND IN THE CHICAGO AREA.
JOSEPHINE'S PASSING IS THE END OF A GENERATION FOR HER FAMILY. SHE SURVIVED THE GREAT DEPRESSION, WORLD WAR II, AND CHALLENGING FAMILY MEDICAL EXPERIENCES. SHE WAS AN UNPARALLELED CARE GIVER. IN 2005, SHE RECEIVED AN AWARD FROM MADERA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OF CENTRAL CALIFORNIA FOR HER 593 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER WORK. SHE ALSO BELONGED TO ITALIAN CATHOLIC FEDERATION IN FRESNO AND MADERA. SHE WAS A PERSON WHO DAILY LIVED HER RELIGIOUS BELIEFS BOTH IN WORDS AND IN DEEDS.
AT NEARLY 90, SHE WAS FULL OF LIFE, ACTIVE, INDEPENDENT, AND A JOY TO KNOW. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY HER FAMILY, HER FRIENDS, AND ALL WHO KNEW HER.
THERE WILL BE A VIEWING AT FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL, COVINA HILLS, CALIFORNIA, ON FRIDAY, JUNE 15, 2012 FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. WITH ROSARY AND PRAYER SERVICE. SHE WILL HAVE A CATHOLIC MASS AND BURIAL AT FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL, COVINA HILLS, CALIFORNIA, ON SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2012 AT 1:30 P.M. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING, SHE WILL BE JOINING HER HUSBAND, TONY, AND HER YOUNGEST SON, STEPHEN, IN ETERNAL REST.
