Joseph Joe Stell

Joseph Stell, 96, born on June 20, 1916, in Evansville, Indiana, passed away April 11, 2013. He resided in La Canada, California at the time of his passing. Joe graduated college from University of California at Berkeley and completed law school at University of Southern California. He met and eloped with his wife, Maxine, at the age of 27, and just three hours later shipped off to the South Pacific to be the Captain of a PT boat. After returning from his tour in WWII he continued a successful law practice for more than 60 years.

While living in La Canada, he raised a very happy family, including three children, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Joe enjoyed life to the fullest with many sports and hobbies such as skiing, dancing, golf, tennis and riding his motorcycle. During his lifetime Joe was honored in many ways. One of the most significant was being chosen to represent the U.S. Navy during Pearl Harbor day and at the 50th anniversary of the landing at Normandy. Joe will always be remembered as a strong, vibrant and caring individual. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children; Eric and Nancy Stell, Susan and David Moard, and Ron and Maryann Stell.
