Plaistow, NH: Joseph G. “Gullo” LaCroix, Sr., 84, of Plaistow passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the VA Medical Center, Bedford, MA following a long illness, with his family by his side. 

Born on March 11, 1928 in Haverhill MA, to the late Leopold and Irene (Fortier) LaCroix, he was raised in Haverhill, MA and attended St. Joseph School and the Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1945.

Joseph served his country as a Merchant Marine during World War II and later in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. 

Joseph worked in telecommunications for over 30 years, retiring from Lucent Technologies in 1986.  He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the C.W.A. Local 1365, where he had served as a union steward as well as an executive board member.

Joe and his wife Marguerite enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida.  He loved spending time with his family, especially during the annual LaCroix family reunions. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marguerite (Glidden) LaCroix of Plaistow; two sons, William D. LaCroix of Raymond, NH and Joseph G. LaCroix, Jr. and wife Pamela of Hampton, NH; a daughter, Karen Metzner and her husband Paul of Atkinson, NH; a brother, Leo LaCroix of Plaistow, NH; sisters, Margaret Ferlito and her husband Thomas of Bradford, MA, and Antoinette Crepeau of Haverhill, MA; four grandchildren, Eric and Justin Metzner, Christopher LaCroix, and Leah White; three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Sydney, and James Metzner.  Several nieces and nephews also survive him.  He was predeceased by his brother, Roland LaCroix and his sister, Theresa Fici.

Friends and family may call on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH 03865 from 9:00 to11:00 AM with services following at the funeral home at 11:15 AM.  Burial with military honors will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to G.R.E.C.C. c/o Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
