Joseph W. Kemp

Joseph W. Kemp, 81, a former longtime resident of Haverhill, died October 12, 2013 at Lakeview Nursing home, following a long illness.
Born in Dorchester, son of the late Charles F. and Doris (Simard) Kemp, he was raised in Haverhill and attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Lawrence High School. Mr. Kemp served as a Corporal in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with Five Bronze Stars and the Presidential Unit Citation.

Employed as a security guard at Western Electric and A T & T Technologies, he retired in 1989 after twenty-five years of service.
A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the Telephone Pioneers of America, he was also a life member of the Lorraine Post of the VFW, The Wilbur M. Comeau Post of The American Legion, and the Korean War Veterans.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years and the love of his life, Lucille (Fournier) Kemp, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael F. and Karen Kemp of Nottingham, NH, three daughters and a son-in-law, Doris Temple of Rollinsford, NH, Jayne and Douglas Hall of Amesbury, and Judith F. Kemp of Exeter, NH, a brother Charles Kemp, III, of Haverhill, four grandchildren, Sara Paola, Michaela Kemp, Ben Hall and Tim Hall, four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Justin, Isabella, and Jaxson, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 o'clock p.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Saint Joseph School at All Saints Parish, 56 Oak Terrace, Haverhill, MA 01832.
