Joseph Mascardo Chavez

Joseph Mascardo Chavez, 85, was born on February 2nd, 1936, in Noveleta, Philippines, passed away May 18, 2021. He resided in Long Beach, CA at the time of his passing.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Teresita Chavez; his children, Dinah, Edgar, and Jeremy; his grandchildren, DonDon, Kennedy, Mara, Isaiah, Kai, and Delaney; his sister and brother, Cory and Raymond Chavez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was valedictorian of his high school. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 26 years as a Machinist Mate, and retiring as a Senior Chief. After his Navy career ended, he worked for the County of Los Angeles for another 20+ years as a Steam Plant Engineer.

Joseph was a devoted husband and father. He generously supported various charities. Loved going to dances with his wife and attended community events. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23rd in front of the Church of Our Fathers. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24th at the Heritage Court. Father Al Scott will officiate. Internment immediately following the funeral services at Forest Lawn, Cypress.
