José R. Bernal, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A beloved man known for his kindness, generosity, and devotion to his family, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at his home in Los Angeles. Born on May 14, 1926, in Paso Robles and raised in La Calera, Michoacán, José lived a full and meaningful life marked by his deep love for his family and the joy he found in sharing moments that brought loved ones closer together.
José was a man cherished not only for his warm spirit but also for his generous heart with which he touched the lives of those around him. His presence was a source of comfort and inspiration, and his stories enriched many moments shared with family, friends and loved ones. All who knew him remember a hard-working, dedicated, and diligent man who lived his life with dignity, integrity, and humanity. José was a kind and gentle soul who delighted in music, sharing jokes and stories about his many adventures in life, and spending quality time with his loved ones. Through his engaging humor, tenderness and wisdom, he created memories that will endure beyond his years.
José's legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His beautiful spirit and unwavering loyalty, strength, and resilience will continue to live in the hearts of those he cherished most.
A visitation to honor José's memory will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Lawn Glendale (1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205). His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Church of the Recessional at Forest Lawn Glendale, and he will be laid to rest immediately following the service. These gatherings will provide an opportunity for family, friends and loved ones to come together to celebrate his life, share their remembrance, and offer support to one another. We hope you are able to attend.
