Jose Luis Siu was born in Bonanza, Nicaragua on October 15, 1949 to his parents Yu Kan Siu and Leticia Jarquin. He was the oldest brother to 7 siblings. He was raised by his father and his wife Guadalupe Leon, whom he called mom. Some of his favorite childhood activities where horseback riding, swimming, playing with friends and siblings, learning how to cook, and helping his mom with her business.
By the age of 17, he graduated from high school and started working at a local bank. This is where he met his soulmate Ileana. In 1971, looking for a better future, he migrated to New York. This became his home for the next 7 years. It is also where he met friends who quickly became family.
In 1977, he relocated to Venezuela and Aruba to visit with cousins. Shortly after he moved back to New York. In May of 1978 he headed to Los Angeles, California where he reunited with his future wife Ileana. There is where he finally found a place to call home.
Eager to start building a future he bought a small record store. After one year he sold it to buy a lunch truck. This business was an extreme success. He ran it for 20 years and ultimately, he sold it.
In 1999, he began working for a well-known beverage company. He was planning to retire this year after 21 years on the job.
Jose was a very spiritual person, a man of great faith, love, hope and charity. He accepted the Gospel in 2009 and was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. He was always ready to serve God with great love, heart, mind and soul. On July 10, 2010 at the Los Angeles Temple he and Ileana united in matrimony for this life and for eternity.
He was known for wearing his trademark Hawaiian shirts, with a great sense of humor, and a smile that was contagious. Western films, James Bond, and opera music were some things he enjoyed.
His devotion to his loved ones was never ending. Dad was a name that many of his grandchildren called him. For the 47 years of marriage, Amor was the only name he called his wife.
Making others feel loved was a priority for him. He would always write letters or send cards for the holidays to his friends and family. Spending time visiting new places, taking cruises and family vacations was always important to him, just as long as it was with family.
Our Heavenly Father called him to his presence on January 27, 2021. He will be forever missed and we know he has touched the hearts of many of you. Our love for him and all the wonderful memories will live forever in our hearts.
Jose Luis Siu is survived by his wife Ileana Siu, his daughter Evelyn Siu, and niece Ileana Lainez, his grandchildren Elissa, Jaymee, Jordan and Camila, his great nephew Ethan, and great grandchildren, Julian and Elianna, his "SUNSHINE".
