Jose "Ve" C. Rojas, Jr, 70 years of age, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in Whittier, CA.
Ve was born April 29, 1948 in Manila, Philippines to the late Jose Rojas, Sr. and Dominga Rojas. He was one of nine children, four of which preceded him in death, his brothers Roger, Ramon, Macario and Diosdado. He attended Far Eastern University in the Philippines, studying medical technology, and continued to work as a laboratory technician for Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. Ve married Macristina Lim on July 28, 2008 in Manila, Philippines.
Music was a large part of Ve's life. He was very creative and expressed his talents through various instruments that included the guitar, piano, bandurria, and cello, just to name a few. Ve was involved in FAME (Filipino-American Musical Ensemble), University of Philippines Alumni and Friends Rondalla, Voting Poll Volunteer in Whittier, and the Palompon Association of Southern California. He was awarded Best Band Leader in the Philippines.
Ve enjoyed playing sports, first teaching his kids to love tennis, and later perfecting his golf game with his friends. He has won awards in the FALConn Basketball and Bowling Leagues. Whatever it was that Ve would try, whether it was a new instrument, painting, building computers, or trying a new sport, he would put his whole heart into it, and his passion would shine.
Ve is survived by his wife Cristy Rojas, his son Ryan and spouse Jaymee Rojas, his daughter Roselle Rojas, his brother Ramon Rojas, his sisters Araceli Trinidad, Erlinda Chiong and Bella Ramos, as well as his grandchild Cassiana Rojas. You have touched all of our lives in your very special way and you will be greatly missed. Mahal Ka Namin.
