Jose "JOE" Bautista, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, in Moreno Valley, California, at the age of 81. Born on April 26, 1944, in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Joe carried with him a rich tapestry of experiences and wisdom that he generously shared with those around him.
For many years, Joe dedicated his career to Union Carbide as a machinist, demonstrating relentless work ethic and unwavering commitment. Even beyond his professional achievements, he had a remarkable ability to connect with others, always ready to engage in conversations filled with laughter and insight. His friends and family often found solace in his words, looking up to him not just as a friend but as a mentor who embodied wisdom that many could only aspire to inherit.
Joe's life was a testament to resilience and positivity. After receiving a devastating cancer diagnosis, he fought valiantly for 18 years, never losing hope or his cheerful demeanor. He expressed deep gratitude for the additional years he was given and approached each day with a heart full of appreciation for life and its blessings.
His nurturing spirit extended beyond his own battles; he was a great provider and a source of advice for those who leaned on him, prioritizing the needs of others above his own. Joe's personality shone brightest in the simple joys of life—his love for DIY projects, running his bakery business, and shooting basketball were passions that brought him happiness and engaged those around him.
An integral part of his life was his family. Joe is survived by his wife, Nelly, and his children, Jay and Karen whom he loving raised with first wife, the late Noemi Bautista. His heart swelled with pride witnessing the births of his grandchildren, Kaela, Justin, and Paxton. These precious moments were among his proudest accomplishments, as he cherished every opportunity to celebrate their lives and lend them his wisdom.
Though Noemi and his sister, Miling Oreta, preceded him in passing, Joe carried their memories close to his heart, drawing comfort and strength from the love they shared.
As we reflect on the legacy of Joe Bautista, we remember a great individual who illuminated the lives of everyone he encountered. His funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Hope Chapel in Cypress, CA, on September 13, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM.
