Jose "Pepito" Crow, 89, of Los Angeles, CA, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, he began his remarkable musical journey at age 7, debuting on "Tropical" radio in Caracas, Venezuela.
On his early radio program, Pepito had the honor of featuring some of the era's most prominent musical figures, including Pérez Prado ("The King of Mambo"), the legendary Trio Los Panchos, and the virtuoso Brazilian guitar duo Los Indios Tabajaras.
Accompanied by his mother and manager, along with his brother Paco Crow and sister Violeta, young "Pepito" toured Central America extensively—performing for heads of state including the presidents of Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Upon his arrival in Mexico City, he was received by President Miguel Alemán alongside iconic figures of Mexican cinema, including Jorge Negrete, Gloria Marín, Father José Mojica, and Luis Aguilar.
There,"Pepito", AKA Pepe, continued his musical studies and eventually worked alongside Pedro Infante—the beloved idol of Mexico—in several films during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Decades later, Pepe was instrumental in securing Pedro Infante's posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was unveiled on August 1, 1993, at 7083 Hollywood Boulevard.
In 1961, Pepe arrived in Los Angeles to perform at the historic Million Dollar Theatre alongside the legendary Dolores del Río—the first major Latin American crossover star in Hollywood.
Known affectionately as "the musical traveler of the world," Pepe performed in 70 countries across five continents—America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia—including two Olympic Games, singing masterfully in eight languages.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irma Crow (2010). He is survived by his three daughters, one son, three granddaughters, and one grandson.
"Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto."
