He was born on July 9, 1938 in Jeollanam-Do, South Korea. After graduating with an Economics degree from Seoul National University, he went on to having a successful career in banking and management.
In 1967, he married Hang Ja Yoon, and went on to have four children, Helen, Caroline, Susan and Charles. The family immigrated to Fullerton, California, in 1981. He became the President of the West Olympia Bank, one of the first Korean banks in the U.S. After several years in this position, he started his own business in 1985, Oaks Liquor in Sun Valley, California. After 2 decades in the business, he retired and spent the majority of his time at church and playing golf.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California.
