Johnny Max Horn, 93, of West Covina, CA, passed away on May 14, 2022.

John was born on June 7, 1928 in Winchester, Indiana to Evan and Inez Horn. After spending his youth taking and smashing watermelons from his neighbors, he graduated high school in 1946 and moved to Pennsylvania for work. He returned to Indiana in 1950 to enlist in the US Air Force. He served in the Korean War as a draftsman earning a bronze star. After 16 years of honorable service, he separated as a Technical Sergeant.

He met his first wife (Bonnie) in Indiana. They married in 1955 and later moved to California and had 3 children (Mark, Debbie, and Randy). They divorced in 1982. He met his current wife (Violeta) in California. They married in 1985 and became a blended family. He was known to always have a smile on his face, was a self-made handyman, and had a green thumb. Upon retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, his rambunctious dogs (Ren-Ren, Dazee, and Rocky), tending to his impressive garden, and watching the Lakers win 17 championships.

John is preceded in death by his brothers (Robert, Evan, and Donald), his son (Randy), and his best friend (Ren-Ren). Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years (Violeta), children (Mark, Debbie, Teresa, Arleen, Arnold, Dina, and Arvin), grandchildren (Jessica, Tim, Nick, Jonathan, Dana, Andre, and Lucas), and his brother (Larry).

A celebration of life will be held at Forest Lawn in Covina Hills, CA on May 31, 2022. Viewing will start at 9:00 am and chapel service from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
A livestream will be available: https://venue.streamspot.com/event/MzIxODc3Ng==. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars (https://www.vfw.org), an organization John joined back in 1993.
