John Frederick Thompson

March 19, 1947 — August 31, 2016

John Frederick Thompson passed away on August 31, 2016 at the age of 69 .

John was born on March 19, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. The son of Edith Josephine Fredrick and Paul Walter Thompson, with his older brother Daniel Gene Thompson and his fraternal twin Jerry Robert Thompson. He spent most of his life in Southern California where he attended public schools and graduated from high school.

He pursued an education in science and medicine at the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy in 1973. Early in his life it was clear that John possessed the deep interest and dedication to excel in the profession of Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics. His exemplary performance was recognized by his peers and superiors alike. After Graduating he was offered a Job at the University and became a Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at USC, sharing his wisdom and knowledge with his colleagues and students. As fate would have it he met his beloved wife, Carol Anne Robinson, at that very University. Sharing the same passions they quickly fell hard in love with one another and got married in 1980.

When he met his wife Carol, his life was complete. He had a perfect Career and had a wide network of Family and Friends, and now he had met the love of his life. John always told the story about how he would one day marry that beautiful woman (Carol Robinson) that walked along the campus corridors, little did he know that his fantasies would come true.

Wasn't long before they had a home built for themselves in Walnut, California and adopted two children. In September of 1989 they brought home their eldest Daughter, Chelsea Anne Robinson-Thompson; and June of 1991 they brought home their youngest son Collin Andrew Robinson-Thompson. John put his heart into providing a loving and supportive home for his family. Both his children and wife adored him.

In 1995, he left his Full-time position at University of Southern California to pursue more of a personal business goal. He opened a small business called Phamranalysis, in Diamond Bar, California. He specialized in Pharmacokinetics, or as he called it Forensic Pharmocology. He was one of the few experts who owned that title in California and he did his job extremely well. He still gave guest lectures at his favorite University, he never let the opportunity to teach or gain knowledge slip away from him.

Beyond being a knowledgeable and loving Husband and father, John enjoyed some of the finer things in life as well. He enjoyed recreational shooting, Pool Billiards, going to the theater, working on his cars, and his evening scotch and occasional cigar. When he was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer early 2016, he never gave up the things he loved. He continued to work hard and stay strong for his family. He got to spend some time with his first grandson, Jude Robert Beaubien, before he passed. Although he was never keen on being called "grandpa" deep down he enjoyed being a grandfather, and he was an amazing one at that.

He resided in Walnut, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina, California.
