Danville, NH: John E. Spencer, 83, a resident of Danville for the past thirteen years, died October 25, 2016 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late Ernest and Alice (Proulx) Spencer, he graduated from Saint James High School with the Class of 1952, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. Serving as a Fire Controlman he was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Spencer worked first at Western Electric Co. and later was employed for thirty-five years as a supervisor and technical writer for Raytheon Publications and contributed to the Hawk and Patriot Missile System program.
A member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead and a former member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow and the Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed woodworking and woodcrafts, electrical work and teaching his grandchildren how to garden and his grandson how to fish.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remember by his wife of fifty-six years, Shirley (Carbone) Spencer, four sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin D. and Karen Spencer of Stark, NH, John E. and Terri Spencer of Guilford, CT., Gerry E and Crystal Spencer of Fremont and Jeffrey T. and Renee Spencer of Danville, a brother Conrad Spencer of Haverhill, grandchildren, Ryan Spencer, Jennifer Spencer, John F. Spencer and Victoria Spencer, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Donald V. Spencer and his sister Patricia Lent.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Life Celebration to be held on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow.
