July 8, 1929 — February 22, 2015

John H. Salinero, 85, of Indio, Calif., passed away February 22, 2015. He was born on July 8, 1929, in San Leandro, Calif., to Valeriano Salinero and Teresa (Hernadez) Salinero, both from Macotera, Salamanca, Spain. He married Donna Salinero on November 8, 1948 in Reno, Nev. He graduated from San Leandro High School in 1947. He served in the United States Navy and was briefly stationed in Alameda Naval Station in 1948. He began as a barber in the late 1940s in Andy Galvan's Barber Shop in San Leandro for over ten years before entering corporate real estate. He loved to tell the story that a local comic named Phyllis Diller used to come into the shop before she became famous. He was City of San Leandro Man of the Year in 1959. He was on theSan Leandro Board of Zoning Adjustments in the late 1950s. He was also on the San Leandro City Council in the late 1950s. He worked with Kaiser-Aetna Real Estate in the 1960s, and was president of the Young Democrats of Alameda County in the late 1950s and early 1960s. John moved to Palm Desert in 1971 when he was marketing director for Indian Creek Houses and then later Deep Canyon Tennis Club, both in Palm Desert, Calif. He owned S.F. Financial and S.F. Realty, a real estate company, in the 1970s. John developed many major housing developments in the Coachella Valley, throughout Riverside County, and in the San Francisco Bay area. He was with Landmark Real Estate in the 1990s and headed his own company, Builders Land Bank at the time of his passing. He is survived by his sons, Daniel James Salinero and Richard J. Salinero; five grandkids; and four great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Salinero, who passed away July 27, 2006. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 12:00 pm in the Ramon Chapel at Forest Lawn Cathedral City, followed by entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cathedral City, Calif.
