John Marshall Olson

John Marshall Olson of Palm Desert, Calif. passed away at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with lung cancer on May 25, 2015. He was born on September 19, 1950 to Eleanor and Robert Olson. John was an avid golfer and a sports fanatic. He and his wife Sandy enjoyed traveling the countryside in their RV. John was a highly regarded individual in the insurance industry and spent the majority of his career as an Executive General Adjuster. He retired from Zürich North America in September 2014. He was a loving father and husband and a provider for his family. He was a humorous man who enjoyed making people laugh and loved telling stories. Although not a professional singer, he had a beautiful voice that will be singing down on us for all eternity. John was known as the eternal optimist and continued that attitude until the very end. He is survived by his wife Sandy; his daughters, Hannah (Rich) Segrist and Justine Roberts; his grandchildren, Madison and Norah Segrist and Cooper and Skylar Roberts. He is also survived by his mother, Eleanor Olson; sister-in-law, Lorane Olson; and nephews Pete (Kim & Will) and Nathan (Kelly) Olson. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Olson; and brother, James Olson. John wishes were not to have those that loved him mourn his death, but that we celebrate his life instead. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at Southwest Community Church, 44-175 Washington Street, Indian Wells, CA 92210.
