John Olsen

John Olsen, 74, of Palm Desert, CA, passed away on April 25, 2024. He was born in Detroit, MI, on June 2, 1949, to the late Charles and Evelyn (Kopas) Olsen. John graduated from Melvindale High School in 1967 and Eastern Michigan University in 1971. On January 28, 1971, he married Linda Trupiano in Detroit, MI. John was a beloved teacher and coach for the Bad Axe Public Schools for 36 years. He was known for his friendly and caring nature, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day.

After retiring to California, John was thrilled to have the opportunity to coach his grandsons in basketball. In his free time, he enjoyed taking long walks, being active in his church, and golfing. John was also an avid reader and sports fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda, his children Cheryl (Mike) Langlois, Eric Olsen, and Lisa Olsen, his grandsons Jacob, Luke, and Ben Langlois, his brother Gary (Jackie) Olsen, and his sister Janeane (Larry) Bickham. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members.

John will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
