John was a resident of Atkinson, New Hampshire at the time of passing.
Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Frederic and Bertha (Flanagan) McCarthy, he was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1946 and attended the Waltham Watchmaking School.
Mr. McCarthy served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a Private First Class and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Camp Stars, the UN Service Medal and One Overseas Service Bar.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours and Life Celebration to be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to an animal shelter of the donor's choice.
