Hampstead, NH:  John J. Marinus, age 64 of Hampstead, was called home peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH.

John was born on November 6, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY.  The son of Charles R. Marinus Jr. and Irma (Weiss) Marinus.   He was raised and educated in Western Mass.  John graduated from Wahconah  High School, Dalton, MA Class of 1968.

He worked as a silver miner in Colorado for 17 years until his early retirement.

John loved music, especially country music and the oldies.  He was an accomplished self-taught guitar player.  John enjoyed tinkering with technology by building and re-building computers.  He was an avid animal lover who truly loved his dogs, Cocobear and Sammy.  John loved his family, friends and neighbors very much and will be sadly missed by all.  He cherished the care and companionship that he received from his caregiver of more than 17 years, Jo-Anna McConnell.

John was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Shedd-Marinus in 1990.  He is survived by his sister, Irma Vachula and her husband, Roger of Chicopee, MA, brother, Charles R. "Randy"' Marinus III and his wife, Kim of Cummington, MA, sister, Wendy Morris and her husband, Harry of Jeffersonston, VA, niece, Amy Ganci and her husband, Mario of East Long Meadow, MA, nephew, Ben Lennon of Belmont, VT, great nephews, Sebastian Ganci and Sebastian Lennon.  Step-daughters, Pamela Williams, Bonnie Shedd-King, April Shedd, Cynthia Gouldsbrough and Gayle Peltier, all of Haverhill, MA, Step'son, Robert Shedd of Kingston, NH, twenty-two Step-grandchildren and sixteen Step-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, October 19, 2012, from 9:30 - 11:30 AM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, (Plaistow Village) Plaistow, NH 03865.  Funeral Services will take place at the funeral home at 11:45 AM.  Burial will follow in Rowley Cemetery in Rowley, MA.
