November 11, 1950 – February 18, 2016

John Lawrence Mansur of West Covina, Ca. passed away peaceful at sunset after a long battle with Leukemia on February 18, 2016 at the City of Hope Helford Hospital in Duarte, Ca. He was surrounded by his devoted wife and John Bramble, his childhood friend. Born in Oceanside, Ca., "Jack" as he was also known, was a beloved and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He grew up in Anaheim, Ca. and went to Savanna High School where he was an exceptional wrestler who went on to compete in CIF and had an outstanding record. He continued to wrestle at California State University at Fullerton where he had matches with Berkley and Stanford. While studying at CSUF he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity and met his College Sweetheart Claudia Moriarty. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism/Radio and Television Communication. John also earned an associate degree in Risk management and Purchasing and went on to work for companies such as Pan Metal and Columbia Pictures. After marrying Claudia, he started working on his MBA at Pepperdine until their first and only child; Sean was born and diagnosed with cancer. After a three year battle, Sean passed away leaving a deep void. Not too long after that John and several of his Delta Chi Fraternity Brothers organized the world premier of No Way Out starring Kevin Costner to benefit Camp Titian a non profit group at CSUF helping underprivileged children. He and his childhood friend became entrepreneurs and started their own business, The Gold Rose Company. They were in business for over twenty years until John was diagnosed. John loved his family and God and he was an avid reader, especially the bible. He was an amazing amateur genealogist who could find any family tree, and he enjoyed writing and movies and could tell you every detail about any movie. John was the life of the party and his quick whit and amazing sense of humor could "bring down the house" and leave everyone roaring with laughter. If he saw anyone being mistreated he was the first to defend the weak. He was smart, generous, kind, compassionate, humble, loving, and walked in integrity. One of his favorite songs was "Laugh and be Happy" from the Sherriff John show. He will be deeply and dearly missed by all.
