John Edward Garcia, Sr., 72, born on September 29, 1947, in Yakima WA, passed away March 13, 2020. He resided in Menifee, CA at the time of his passing. After complications from a lengthy battle against cancer; John entered peacefully into the presence of his Savior Jesus, surrounded by the loving embrace of his wife and children.
John Grew up in Toledo, Ohio. As the oldest of eight children, John wholeheartedly accepted the role of big brother, a commitment he would proudly carry out. To assist his single mother Katherine Garcia and help support his siblings, John took up a job as a paperboy for his hometown newspaper, the Toledo Blade.
As a child, John developed a lifelong passion for music from his mother. It was at a grade school choir audition that he then found his beautiful voice and vocal range and he never stopped singing. His immense love of music led to attending Woodstock; one of countless concerts he'd attend over his lifetime, and one of the brightest memories that he would carry throughout the rest of his life. As such, he had a tremendous fondness for the 60s, tales from which he would excitedly regale to all who would hear them. In his 20s, John would leave Toledo for Southern California where he would meet the love of his life, Linda Blakely, and begin the next adventure of his lifetime. John and Linda were married on December, 18 1976, three years after their meeting and would remain together for 43 years, raising 4 wonderful children as a devoted family man, until John's parting.
John had the warmest personality one that ensured everyone he met felt like a dear, old friend. His gift of putting a smile on anyone's face and his welcoming nature would create many lasting friendships over his lifetime. He was fiercely protective of friends and family alike and would not hesitate to help someone in need. He touched innumerable lives with his altruistic spirit, amiable personality, and unyielding courage.
John will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Linda Garcia; their daughters Leisa Ozuna (Christopher) and Sara Denise Quiroz (Brandon); son John "Eddie" Edward Garcia Jr.; daughter Debbie Garcia; and son Derek Garcia; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony, Joe, Albert, Dennis, and David. siblings Johnny, Diane, Julie, Mary, Hoppie and many more he had yet to meet.
He is preceded in passing by daughter Jeana Marie Garcia; father, John Joe Garcia; mother Katherine Garcia; sisters Dawn Marie and Denise Lynn; brother Michael Garcia.
