Hampstead, NH: John P. Eckert, 87, a resident of Hampstead for the last thirty- eight years, died on March 15, 2015 at his home with his wife by his side.
Born, raised, and educated in Lebanon, PA, son of the late Phares and Katherine (Light) Eckert, he graduated from Temple University with a Degree in Electronic Engineering.
Mr. Eckert was employed most recently as a Vendor Quality Engineer for Princeton Technology in Hudson, NH, from where he retired. He had previously been employed by Centronics Company and Presstek, both in Hudson. He had also been previously employed at many companies along the Route 128 Technology Highway in Massachusetts.
Before settling in Hampstead, Mr. Eckert lived in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA from 1969 - 1977, and also spent two years in Laredo, TX. He had also lived in Danvers MA, before moving to Texas.
Mr. Eckert attended St. John's Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms, and he was a former member of the Hampstead Lions Club. In his retirement he enjoyed working with his computer.
He was the husband of the late, C. Alice (Cocci) Eckert, and is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Margaret "Peggy" (Malia) Eckert, two sons, Fr. Douglas Glassman, O.S.F, of Lubec, ME, and J. Michael Eckert and his wife Rita of Brownsville, TX, a daughter, Janett Nixon and her husband Randy of Marietta, GA, a brother, Edwin Eckert of Dover, DE, a sister, Florence Asbury of Lebanon, PA, four grandchildren, Mallory Nixon, Chase Nixon, Erin Eckert, and Matthew Eckert, and a great granddaughter, Lexi Eckert.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Eckert's Life Celebration on Saturday, March 21 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA.
