John Williams, 89, born on May 3, 1936, in Sprinx, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, where he resided at the time of his passing.
John was a man of remarkable intelligence, creativity, and heart. Known for his artistic spirit and sharp mind, he built a successful career as a real estate investor. Throughout his life, he combined business acumen with imagination and vision, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. His thoughtful nature, wisdom, and dedication to his work left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John had a generous and compassionate spirit. He quietly helped members of the homeless community by offering them opportunities to work, teaching them to create handcrafted butterflies that they could sell to earn their own income. He believed deeply in dignity through purpose and was proud to support others in building a better path forward.
John also cherished time with his family and embraced life with enthusiasm. In one memorable moment of determination and good humor, he ran a marathon alongside his son, and proudly beat him, an achievement he never let him forget.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glycerin Williams.
John is survived by his son, John Williams; his brother, Dewey Williams; and five cherished grandchildren: Tia Hillewaert and her husband Zach Hillewaert; Kiera Santana and her husband Leonardo Santana; Danielle Ray and her husband Franklin Ray; Sierra Williams and her husband Austin McLean; and Lindsi Bridendolph-Williams. John was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
John’s legacy of intelligence, artistry, generosity, and deep devotion to family will be remembered and treasured by all who knew and loved him.
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California.
