John Paul Dalton, aged 75, of Santa Fe Springs CA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 13th, 2026.
Born on May 8th, 1950 in Madison, Wisconsin John was known for his gentle soul, love of music and literature, dedication to his career in education, and above all, devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John’s earliest years were spent with family in suburban Chicago. His summers were gloriously spent with grandparents in Madison WI, joined by his sister and so many Wisconsin cousins. In 1963, the family was transferred to Arcadia, in Southern California, where he attended grade school at Annunciation Catholic parish. For high school, John enrolled at La Salle College Prep, a Catholic boy’s high school in Sierra Madre CA.
Drawing upon the Christian Brother’s dedication to Catholic teaching and reputation for excellence in education, becoming a Christian Brother became his calling. Upon graduation, he joined the Christian Brothers, graduating with teaching credentials from St. Mary’s College in Moraga CA. He eventually moved on to become an educator where he met his wife, Joanne at St. John The Baptist Catholic school. He would later move on to the Los Angeles Unified School District where he went on to have a 30+ year career.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne, son Sean, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Dalton of Anaheim, as well as his sister Jeanne Dalton and her partner Steve of Palm Desert. John was preceded in death by his parents Paul H. and Lola M. (Walz) Dalton of Palm Desert.
Outside of work, John found joy in reading, music, and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, of which he was a devout Catholic himself. He volunteered and contributed by singing and playing guitar during masses.
